In this tutorial we’ll learn how to install Plesk on Ubuntu 16.04. We will also install and configure its prerequisites. Plesk is one of the widely used web hosting control panels in the web hosting business. It offers simple server and website management solutions with single-click mechanisms. Plesk consists of webserver suite (LAMP), Mail server, FTP Server, Name Server applications etc. Plesk is a an enterprise hosting control panel and it requires license to work effectively.
I recommend to use a minimal Ubuntu server setup as a basis for the tutorial, that can be a virtual or a root server image with an Ubuntu 16.04 minimal install from a web hosting company or you use our minimal server tutorial to install a server from scratch.
Install Plesk on Ubuntu 16.04
Step 1. First, ensure your system and apt package lists are fully up-to-date by running the following:
apt-get update -y apt-get upgrade -y
Step 2. Installing Plesk on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
First, download the one-click installer from the Plesk site using the wget command. At the terminal prompt, enter the following command to launch the installer:
wget -O - http://autoinstall.plesk.com/one-click-installer | sh
After installation, open a Web browser and enter “http://:8443″ in the address bar, substituting your IP address for”” and omitting the brackets. The Plesk control panel displays a first-time configuration page, and you’re prompted to enter your name, phone number and email address and create a new password.
